Porcelain bridges

blood cell typesIf you’ve lost a tooth for whatever reason, we recommend replacing it, both for aesthetic and health reasons. There are several options; we’ll help you decide what’s best for you.

A bridge (fixed partial denture) attaches artificial teeth to adjacent natural teeth, called abutment teeth. Bridges are permanently cemented in your mouth. Fixed bridges are more stable than their removable counterparts. A dental bridge helps support your lips and cheeks and has a number of health benefits. Teeth were designed to complement each other; when one or more is missing, additional stresses are placed on the gums and remaining teeth.

The procedure to fit you with bridgework usually takes two or three appointments. We’ll first prepare the teeth on either side of the gap by removing a portion of the enamel and dentin. We’ll make an impression that the lab will use to accurately create the bridge. When the lab completes its work, we’ll cement the bridge in place.
