Crowns, Bridges, and Veneers in Crown Point, IN
At Beacon Hill Dental, we focus on providing solutions for patients in Crown Point, IN who want to improve their oral health and enhance their smiles through dentistry.
For some of our patients, that means restoring comfort and chewing function with dental crowns and bridges. Others with healthy smiles are interested in the aesthetic improvements they can achieve with dental veneers.
Beautiful Crowns, Bridges, and Veneers in One Appointment
The one thing all these dental restorations have in common is that, in many cases, we can design, fabricate, and place them on your tooth in the same visit. Our patients appreciate that with CEREC same-visit technology, they don’t have to worry about multiple appointments, messy impressions, and temporary dental work.
Let’s take a quick look at how each of these restorations works and why our Crown Point dentists recommend them.
If you have a broken tooth or a cavity that’s too large for a filling, Dr. Rita or Dr. Paul would recommend a dental crown. Crowns are also called “caps” because they fit over the tooth and completely surround it. The crown provides a new chewing surface, which protects the tooth from damage and allows you to chew fully on it again.
Missing teeth are all too common, but today there are many modern tooth replacements available, including dental bridges. A bridge replaces one or two missing teeth by placing an artificial tooth in the gap and securing it to adjacent teeth with dental crowns.
Porcelain veneers are perfect for hiding aesthetic flaws you’d rather not share with the world, including:
- Broken teeth
- Wide gaps or irregular spacing
- Size or shape differences
- Badly stained or discolored teeth
- Minor tooth misalignment
Covering the surface of a tooth with a porcelain veneer creates a fresh, new appearance and a harmonious, symmetrical smile.
The Process for Getting CEREC Crowns, Bridges, and Veneers
CEREC is the acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, which means we don’t use an outside dental lab to prepare your restorations. Instead of waiting the usual 2-3 weeks to complete the process, our CEREC dentists complete the entire procedure in a single appointment.
First, Dr. Paul prepares the tooth or teeth he’s treating by removing a layer of enamel from the surface. Next, he takes comfortable digital impressions using a handheld scanner that doesn’t require any messy paste.
Using CAD/CAM technology, our dentist designs your new restoration in specialized software that renders a 3-D image of your tooth and the restoration. This gives us much more control over the design and fabrication process to ensure that we achieve the best results.
The design is sent to a specialized 3-D printer in our office that cuts your crown, bridge, or veneer out of a block of porcelain. When the restoration’s finished, our dentist adjusts it for fit, polishes it, and cements it securely on your tooth.
