Invisalign Clear Braces in Crown Point, IN
Many adults would like to have a straighter smile but may not want or need extensive orthodontic treatment; they just want to see a balanced, symmetrical smile when they look in the mirror, and with Invisalign clear braces, and we can help them achieve it.
Instead of metal brackets and wires, Invisalign uses smooth plastic aligners to straighten your teeth. Invisalign aligners at our Crown Point dental office fit your teeth like a snug mouthguard and are customized to gradually nudge your teeth into the desired position.
Made of specialized crystal-clear plastic, Invisalign aligners won’t irritate soft tissues in your mouth and are so discreet that most people won’t notice you’re wearing them.
How Straight Teeth Lead to a Healthier Smile
The aesthetic benefits of orthodontic treatment are obvious, but did you know that straight teeth also promote better oral health? Dr. Rita Patel-Miller is an Invisalign-certified dentist in Crown Point who can explain the benefits of Invisalign treatment, including:
Easier Oral Hygiene
Brushing between crooked or overlapped teeth can be difficult, allowing plaque and tartar to build up on them. Teeth that are evenly spaced are easier to keep clean and therefore minimize your risk for cavities and gum disease that results from poor oral hygiene.
Reduced Wear and Tear on Teeth
Crooked teeth can places excess chewing force on other teeth that over time lead to tooth wearing, dental erosion, broken teeth, problems with your dental bite, and even TMJ pain. Straightening your teeth helps restore the balance of your dental bite and distribute chewing forces more evenly.
How the Invisalign Process Works
The first step is an evaluation with Dr. Rita Patel-Miller to determine if you are a good Invisalign candidate. If you are, the Invisalign process begins with photos, x-rays, intraoral images, and digital impressions of your teeth.
Planning Invisalign Treatment
Dr. Rita maps out a treatment plan using specialized Invisalign software, which shows how your teeth will move during each treatment stage. Using this information, an Invisalign lab fabricates several sets of custom aligners that sequentially move your teeth into the desired position. Just wear one set for 2-3 weeks, then switch to the next set in the series—it's that simple!
Wearing Your Aligners
We will see you at our Crown Point dental office every 4-6 weeks to check on your progress and give you your next series of Invisalign aligners. During this time, your teeth are moving, and you may even see the difference when you switch out your aligners. It’s exciting to see progress, and it helps you stay motivated to wear your aligners as much as possible.
Your goal is to wear them for 22 hours a day and only remove the aligners for meals and oral hygiene. If you have a big event coming up like a wedding, reunion, or dream job interview, go ahead and take them out for a few hours. But remember—the longer you wear the aligners each day, the sooner you will complete treatment and see your beautifully straight smile.
